Default New chick. Exhaust question

I recently bought an '07 GT from a private seller. Basically stock. Has shorty headers. I'm looking for a good exhaust system to put on my car. I don't want it to be extremely loud but I do want it louder and I want it to sound good. I've looked around but I'm not sure what I want. What would you guys suggest?

There are a lot of choices but understand that anything beyond the H-pipe won't gain you any performance; only sound.

If you don't mind some drone in the 1600-1800 RPM range, the FRPP (Borla) Stingers sound very good and really sing when you get on it. I really like mine and, with the manual tranny, the drone can be well handled. As far as other choices, there's a lot of info here: https://mustangforums.com/forum/4-6l...t-systems.html

OH, and WELCOME TO THE FORUM!

Id recommend taking your mufflers off for a few days and see if you think that is too loud or not. I took my mufflers off a month or so ago to give me an idea of how loud boom tubes or loud mouths would be and i havent put them back on yet. I love the no muffler sound, loud outside the car, not so bad inside. But it also gives you a great example of drone!

welcome, new chick!
mid mufflers are a great sounding system, pair that with some long tubes and o/r mid pipe and you got a winner. thats my 2 cents, but it's worth a lot more than that.

There are a number of different exhaust combos you can run. With the stock H pipe, some of the best sounding ones are the fore mentioned stingers, bassani race, SLP loudmouths, boomtubes, and what I have, magnapacks. You could listen to youtube, but the best thing would be to hear the exhaust 1st hand. A mustang car club meet would be a good place.

I run Shorties, stock Cats and H pipe, and Ford Racing GTA's, and constantly get coents on how good it sounds. The Shorties really wake up the GTA's.

Thanks guys. I actually did youtube some different stuff but I'd rather hear it in person. Not for sure if i've heard of the magnapacks before. Might check into those.

If it has shorties already are you sure that you don't have more of an aftermarket exhaust already?

I have mac axle backs, they sound awesome at wot but there is alot of drone at about 1800 - 2000 rpm so if you have an automatic they might drive you crazy.
