Default Delete power

Do muffler deletes cause you to lose power

kinda. But they flow better at higher speeds. I still like the stock mufflers, had muffler deletes on for a bit but got tired of them. sounds great though.

I believe I heard that you lose some low end torque.

I've heard the same, that you may lose a few ft lbs of torque at lower rpm but you'd either gain them back, or actually add some power at higher rpms. I don't think it was enough to notice however. I have straight thru canister style mufflers on my car, I've never noticed anything that was a big enough difference to talk about.

I wish I could site my sources for this information, but the mufflers on the S197s are pretty free flowing to begin with. The catalytic converters are supposed to create more than enough backpressure. Jim Bell from Kenne Bell had an article someplace basically saying you can swap/remove axleback mufflers all day long on these cars and you won't get or lose anything except noise.

you lose low end torque and you might feel it, depends on tune, driving styles etc. You might gain a small bit up top but nothing that cant be called dyno error if you try to measure it
