Good article with some good info that seems to make sense. I'm a little biased though since I too use Mobile1. All I know about Amsoil is that it's too expensive for me but some people swear by it.

i use Mobil 1 in everything including my harley. best part is you can get it anywhere for under $5 a quart. i have seen several sources that show that Amsoil uses Mobil 1 as their base stock.
BUT any oil that meets Government specs is fine. many of the off brands you see are actually major brands. Texstar in St. Louis basically cans Quaker State, but also cans Sears, KMart and various others and they are the same. Harley oil is Citgo.

I've seen a articles that tested the synths, lab and in the car for long-term. mobil 1 was always the target. Amsoil and another oil, Red Line tested pretty well against Mobil 1, but Mobil 1 was the only oil available of the 3 for a decent price.
