Default FI engine build question

I poked around using search for a while and didn;t find the thread that answered this question, if i missed it sorry and point me to it please. So i am set to get a procharger installed on my car in the next month or so and i am thinking about the bottom end of the motor with all the guys blowing engines recently. Also I know some of you guys will say get a TS or another brand, but i am sold on the Procharger, one of the only local tuners has a great installed price and lots of expirence with the d1sc and i love the sound. At first on the stock bottom end things are going to be in the 450 rwhp range.

I have been planning to get the ford racing aluminator short block for boost later this year as an upgrade. From what I have been reading to keep things in a DD streetable range i am going to look at about 550 RWHP when all is said and done. I read a thread about making a streetable 650rwhp machine and that is just more loot than i want to throw at the car and from what i read on posts 550rwhp and a good clutch /flywheel and my factory manual SHOULD live a long and happy life if I don't drop the clutch at 5k daily. The question is this, at my HP goal will I really need to use aftermarket cams and get ported heads or can i put that money into the car elsewhere. If I can just go from teh 8-10 psi the procharger needs at 450whp to more boost and a better fuel system (GT500) I would rather do that, seems cheaper than 2K for heads and $1k for cams. Opinions? Right now I am thinking the FRPP aluminator, macloud rst and flywheel, and more boost along with GT500 fuel system for 550rwhp. That a good recipe?

Alot of people make mid 500's on the stock heads and cams.

One thing that will probably need upgrading is the input shaft to your transmission. American speed snapped his at under 500. He's not the only one. It has alot to do with traction. The more traction the more force applied to the drivetrain, the more weak links show up.

Cool, i am also wondering if there woudl be a significant difference or any reason to sepnd the extra $1k and get teh livernoise 289 stroker SB rather than the FRPP one. Opinions?

I would keep the stock cams and have the heads ported or a new set of heads.

after doing a bunch of research on a similar topic, I would keep the stock block and drop in a rotating assembly and have your stock heads ported. Something like this http://www.haneymotorsport.com/HMS%2...ing%20Kits.htm and you will be good to go. Depending on how much of the labor you can do yourself, you can save some serious coin. Also, there a forum sponsor and if you ask them they will give you a discount.

I have a d1sc one thing I would suggest to you is to make sure you get the upgraded Procharger pulley that mounts to a ATI sfi balancer. I was running 11 psi and the standard procharger pulley that mounts to the stocked harmonic balancer loosened up and tore up the the keyway on the crank. When I called Procharger the Tech told me that I was probably pushing to much boost for the pulley system I bought which was a fine time to tell me now. So that is what made me start the build up of my engine. According to my builder the heads on the 3 valve flow so good all he recommended was a mild port. I did go with a set of cams that required new springs but no phasers mods. The main reason I went with a builder is so I could have it built like I wanted it and to have somebody to stand behind there work and not try to shift blame. I also went with Lethal Performance GT Triple Pump Fuel System. I should be back on the road in about 2 weeks hopefully pushing about 21 psi.
