Default torque convertor question

I'm thinking about getting the TCI tq. conv. from Brenspeed , the 3000 streetfighter. I don't go to the track more then once a year. Does the tq. conv. help a great deal from a roll, 30, 40 ect.or is it mainly just for the strip. I have never had a car with one so I don't know what to expect.

It helps from launch, thats it. If you have a locking converter the clutch is locked by 40 MPH (usually). Buy a PI converter for a quality piece and leave TCI alone.

With a lock up converter it runs semi-normal under the stall rating but when you kick in the accelerator the converter locks up and your motor automatically jumps to the stall rating. So yes, you will see a difference at 30 or 40 mph when stomping the gas.

As far as seat of the pants driving, and all out acceleration there is a lot of bang for the buck with a high stall torque converter. It definitely makes your car seem faster.

The down side of a high stall converter for a Dailey driver is it minimizes the ability to accelerate at a medium rate. It seems like it is drive slow or all out. In traffic there are times that you would like to get through while accelerating at a medium rate without going all out.

Good luck,

Al
