Default P0113 Code - Need Help

Hey guys, been driving on the new Saleen for about a week now and everything has been fine. Drove about 40 miles to my parents house, let the car sit for about 45 minutes or so and then started it up. About a mile down the road I got the CEL and turns out it's P0113 (high intake temp). I checked some things under the hood and all seems to be ok. I cleared the code and then drove another 20 miles or so with no issues. Let the car sit for about 3 hours, got back in and started it up and got the code again.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing the code to be thrown?

i'm thinking it's a wiring issue.

normally the IAT sensor is collocated with
the MAF sensor. i'm not sure though, how
you have it all wired up.

I'm gonna dig into it a little bit tonight, but I think it's just a bad sensor. I drove home fine on it last night (40) miles after clearing the code and nothing came up. Got in the car this morning (abour 40 degrees out) and the CEL for P0113 came on again... I know I didn't have a high IAT at 40 degrees upon start up. :-)

In doing some research online it sounds like this sensor going out is relatively common... we'll see.

When you put your Whipple on, did you relocate the IAT sensor? The KB kit has you put the two lines that are IAT sensor wires onto another sensor seperate from MAF. It plugs into a ported on the manifold plate. I'm assuming it's reading air that is coming out of the manifold just before it goes into the motor.

great question Simon1, the short answer
is no. whipple does not have you relocate
the IAT sensor, during the install.

i've looked at the tune and the temperatures
at which timing begins to pull back and the
only reasonable conclusion is this:

if you are relying on an intercooler to bring
IAT temps down, it is in your best interest to
relocate the IAT sensor to after the compressor.

i will be doing the relocation, at some not too
distant juncture.

The Saleen kit does relocate/add a IAT sensor. It is located on the drivers front side of the blower, close to the pcv hose/connector. The sensor may be shorted out or the wiring from the maf harness to the IAT sensor.

I had the same problem after installing a KB in my car. Ended up being a bent prong on the main wiring harness connector where it plugs into the computer. This caused it to go into the wrong hole. I hate it when that happens.

I had this problem with my saleen install but mine was a very simple fix. Turns out I didn't add enough coolant. I used the pressure kit and thought i put enough coolant. But after a few driving cycles, i noticed my coolant reservor was empty on a cold engine. check it out.

Thanks Monster and Jersey, I'll check both of those things out...

So it turns out my coolant was a bit low, but I filled it up, cleared the code and drove around for a while and it didn't come back on. Let it sit overnight, started her up and the code came back...

Guess I need to start digging into the wiring and connections... ugh.
