white_lightning, imo the short answer is,
i don't see why not.

this short block is a direct replacement
for our stock short blocks. the lower
compression ratio translates into a slight
loss in torque (all things remaining the
same), but allows for big gains when you
turn up the boosty.

So. Who's buying me one? I deserve it I swear.

$3200 shipped.

I'm trying to add some numbers up with a sc. I'd like one and the new price is appealing. I'm wondering how much quality the build has? I'm disappointed how ford has chosen to go back to the 5 liter while we are stuck with trying to build up our 4.6's to compete.

I looked up a retail time for short block swap. Does 22.8 hours sound right??

Sounds good if it works with all the blowers...if/when i'm blown via an Edelbrock this looks like a solid way to go, for uppin the boost. I also noticed Brenspeed is coming out with built 302 and 281 blocks for S197's. Maybe the new 5.0 is a blessing is disguise for 05-10 owners...

from what i've read and gathered, these
are pretty good shortblocks.

i have a feeling, that someone is going to
be doing an installation guide for this
baby....

dont know if i blame ford after all with all the big numbers coming from dodge and chevy they needed to step it up and deliver some thing new to compete

wow...this wouldn't be worth it for my car obviously, but would be nice in a rat rod project car I want to build. Can't really afford to have $3,200 sitting around for that long right now though... that's ok. 2 years from now the 5.0 aluminators will be stronger and cheaper anyways

hey distantsoldier, what do you think
about this shortblock in general, for
a 500-550rwhp, boosted, weekend
warrior vehicle.

The only other thing I would think about before doing this short block would be;why not get a built 5.0 block instead (livernois or similar)?? I only plan on replacing my engine once if the stock 4.6 goes to pieces after I'm boosted...

The point with buying this would be to avoid having to replace anything because it "went to pieces".

You can hold lots of power with this shortblock. More than you'll want on the street anyway.
