You have to unlock a tuner?

So maybe looking on Craigslist for a deal on a used tuner could be a bad thing?

You're saying some ******** could have it mated to a car they sold a long time ago, and it might be worthless to me?

It's possible, but you can also get them unlocked by SCT if I remember correctly. I'd try to find one used, but yes, it is possible to get one that is locked because somebody didn't turn their car back to stock. Makes it a little bit of a pain because then you have to talk to SCT about it.

Try this to see if it helps pedal response,
Turn on key, don't start, when dash stops chimeing, slowly push
pedal to floor, then slowly release, turn key off.
Then start and drive, I do this about once a month, they say it keeps
pedal and TB calibrated, I have automatic to.

If you're referring to turning the ignition to the ON position, pressing the gas pedal to the floor, and releasing the gas pedal, then see if disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes helps matters any.
Also, agree with rdsx18 that your car probably does not have a tune that's designed to work with a CAI. If it did, then that should cause a CEL.

Yeah, that's what I meant. We need a one word description for that....

Anyway, I need to disconnect the battery anyway to see if I can rid myself of a CD ERROR on my Shakey 500. So perhaps I'll kill two birds.

I have a BrandMotion iPod kit in the mail. I'll disconnect the battery for the install, and see if that helps.

Thanks.

You have to perform the reverse throttle calibration.

All you have to do is drive in reverse for 5 miles non-stop, three miles at 5 mph, 2 last miles at 20 mph.

Just take it easy and be careful with the kids and pets in your neighborhood.

Dude you have to be kidding? LOL

OP, come on man, just find a straight road and gas it full throttle, let the trans shift into second, if you burn rubber you got a tune dude....its really simple. Dont forget to turn off the TC too.

Now, what you can also do is call up brenspeed and explain your deal to them as they might have some insight and be able to save you some cash as well. I would HATE to spend $95 for a stock ford tune from a dealer.....that is a waste IMO.

sounds like dirty throttle body to me i had a similar sounding problem, where i would push on the pedal and nothing would happen and then it would jump off the line, as if i was trying to race (commonly with a small burnout). Take off the intake and look at the throttle blades, mine were dirty and cleaning them fixed the problem.
