HELP!!!!!!! SCT Firmware update
I was so hoping for a "happy ending" to this thread, and it didn't disappoint! Glad you got it straightened out. Every once in a while I think about doing the firmware update, but then it scared the crap out of me so I don't do it ;-) It's nice to know that all hope is not always lost when these things brick via a bad firmware update.
Well, just in case someone else with a similar issue come across this thread...
- If the serial number begins with the letters 'XP', it is an Enhanced device, use the firmware for an enhanced device. If it begins with 'X3', use the non-enhanced FW.
- PN 3015 is a preloaded device with room for up to 3 additional custom tunes. PN 3000 is custom tune only.
- Currently, both the 3015 and the 3000 say 'X3' on the main label where the buttons are. Below that there is a smaller label that will have the part number or might say either "preloaded" or "custom tuning".
- If the serial indicates it was first sold before 07/25/08, it is now considered an SF3 3015, even if its labeled as a X3 pn 3000. Up until that date they both came with the same firmware. Date it was first sold will be listed in the serial number after the first two digits.
- If you power on a 3000, select Program Vehicle, and then select Strategy Tune, it will say Strategy Tune is not supported. Just another way to tell them apart if someone played a mean trick on you and mislabeled your programmer ;-)
