Fuel filter question?

Fuel filter question?
Hi guys! I've been thinking I should have the fuel filter changed in my 06 Mustang gt. I've noticed a loss in fuel mileage. I cleaned my K&N and it hasnt helped. I've been looking online and what I've found is that the fuel filter should be changed often (I have 21,000 miles on car). Well this caused a big fight between my husband and me because he said that it DOESNT need to be changed at 21,000 miles and that what I'm reading online about changing it often is wrong and that he has over 50,000 miles on our Dodge Ram (Hemi) and its never needed the fuel filter changed (WHATEVER!!) So I'm posting here for some information. Can anyone help me with this before someone gets killed??? (wont be me either Thanks guys!!!

30K but with the dirty fuel nowdays, its time to change it.
Its easy and cheap insurance.
Tell that to ol hubby....
He is off his rocker....
I did mine at 30K and it was soooo dirty, I wish I had done it at 20K.....

I glued a few high power magnets out of an old HardDrive
to capture the rusty bits before they get to the filter material...
The magnets have to be properly placed so that you can install
the filter after the magnets are glued on..
Its almost like they were made for this use.
They are glued on the INLET side of the filter...
Got an old computer or any old dead HardDrives laying around?
They all have high power magnets in them by design...
Get the Torx wrenches out and have a look see...

Easy to do- my 08 required NO tools to remove the filter- just some bolt holding the plastic cover to the frame rail under the drivers side. Squeeze tabs on the fittings- Pop!- out it came. I also did not rellieve the fuel pressure- but really nothing slpashed out- small dribbles.
I have read the ethanol in gas nowadays attracts trash- all it takes is one "bad" tank full...
