Default Impressions of 2011 GT - Test Drive

I went by my Ford dealer today and drove a 2011 manual 6-speed 5.0 GT.

Performance options include the Brembo package and 3.73 rear axle ratio.

Impression: It is a very nice car and I especially love the interior! The car is super quiet, but when you go WOT it has a BMW-like mechanical precision howl - very nice! Revs were smooth all the way to the 7,000 rpm redline. I did find the 3.73 ratio to be a bit too low on this car though - 1st gear disappears fast (I kept bouncing off of the rev limiter)! I think that 3.55s would be the way I would get one.

The car stickered at $37,100...

There was no ADM and the X-Plan price was $34,747 with an available $500 rebate bringing the car down to $34,247. 4.9% financing for 60 months was also available for qualified buyers.

Would I buy one? If I didn't currently own an 08 GT, I would definitely be making the purchase! But as impressive as the car was, I could not justify the extra money the car would end up costing now that I am only 1/2 way through my current financing. The only thing that I did not like about the car was the...

That's all I'm going to say about that.

You do know that the rev limiter keeps the car from being over-reved right? It doesn't hurt the car.

I didn't abuse the car, I have respect for it - no burnouts, no speed shifting. But I wanted to see what type of acceration it has. I didn't plan on reving it to the rev limiter, but the 3.73s are too low for that engine/transmission - 1st gear is useless with 3.73s IMO. It almost seemed that the rev limiter kicked in before 7 grand - maybe I am used to my Brenspeed tune with the raised limiter.

Well, if we're being serious, I don't bounce it off the f'ing rev limiter.

Alas, I was actually only poking fun anyway (hence the smiley face). And since I'm not buying that car, it certainly ain't worth fightin' about

Bouncing off the limiter dont hurt it........ya LMFAO thats priceless

Ive seen some "limited" motors pop, float valves etc etc etc. Probably not that bad on a car with some miles and done rarely but not something I would use as a screw that shift back up lol.
