Shelby GT or 5.0????

Believe you me he can make his car just as fun as a 5.0.
Even if he mods the hell out of his Shelby and it did take a hit.. all he has to do is keep the stock parts to put them back on when he decided to get rid of it.
As you can tell my all these opinions, that's exactly what they are... opinions.
There is no right or wrong answer. There is only what you want to do that will make you the happiest.
I could have got a 5.0
I chose to keep the body style I love and to have fun modding it and making it just as fun as a 5.0... while not missing and regretting later for getting rid of the car I love so much.
Oh and btw...20 years from now he will get more money for the Shelby garaged or not garaged than he would the 5.0

I was saying that MY opinion was just that... an opinion.
People on here ARE going to have different opinions and that is what is so great about this place!
But for all we know the collectors days could be over with the mass production of even limited editions compared to the "old days" limited production cars.
Of course a garaged Shelby would sell for more than a driven one
that had been modded and enjoyed probably.
But my point was this...
You have a GT in 20yrs that has not been garaged.
You have a Shelby in 20yrs that has not been garaged.
Both in about the same condition.
Which is gonna sell for more?
I tell you one thing... I'd pay more for the Shelby.
Even if someone had modded the complete hell out of it.
Let's face it... the bitch is a bad *** modded Shelby.

It's almost always cheaper to keep a car that is paid for and mod it vs. constantly selling and upgrading to the latest and greatest. Look at all the old foxbody cars that would annihilate a 2011 GT. And they do it for a lot less money.
If the Shelby GT isn't close to paid for then you have less to lose by ditching it.

If you drive it and mod it, it becomes just another 'Stang.
To me it is just another stang....with extra bits of plastic stuck on and an extra badge or two. Every car manufacturer has great success in getting money out of folk with their special editions this and special editions that....lol. You see it a lot when a car is sbout to change significantly...then the manufacturer repackages the last few hundred with a special stripe, a badge, maybe a signature and the all-important number (1 out of 500 etc), usually on a tiny plaque. It works, so the sales strategy is repeated across the automobile industry.

if you are like me, you dont care about resale value.
i value the drive, not the money it's valued at.
the new 5.0 engine is better, period.
sure you could mod a 3v to be faster than a stock 5.0
but put those same mods in a 5.0 4v and you'll smoke the 3v 4.6 easy
the only reason i dont sell my 2007 GT for a 2011 GT is bc i cant afford it.
