Default Ran out of air filter soap...

I know you guys will get a kick out of this question, but I'm wondering if anyone here has been crazy enough to try this.
I ran out of cleaner soap from the K&N recharger kit. Still have 2/3's left on the oil can and don't feel like spending $15 on another kit just to have the same thing happen.

What other household cleaners could I use on the air filter that won't harm the filter's cotton?

I've thought of using simple green. The store bought air filter cleaner smells like a mixture of simple green and 409 to me.

Any degreaser will work. You can use liquid dish detergent.

Diluted in some water, I presume.

I'll try that next time. This time I just used what little cleaner spray I had left, hosed it and oiled it.

Didn't turn out as clean, bright red, as other times though.

Did you give it a good 24 hours to dry in the sun and/or air flow?

Well it is IN the car right now and I don't plan to drive it until tomorrow so... I think that should do. It's what I've been doing since I got the CAI some 20,000 odd miles ago. Never had any MAF related checklights.

Instructions on my kit said not to let it sit in the sun. I put it in front of a fan for a few hours.

Dawn dish washing liquid is what they use to clean up oil soaked animals in the wild.
