The average battery is good for only 3 years, so keep that in mind guys.
And high temp. States like Florida, Texas and the West Coast etc... it's more like 2 years...

Yep, and the OEM draw turns the life into 1-2
years if its left to sit for any period of time between driving...
Once the plates sulfate, that portion no longer stores energy...

Well....you guys were right. Bad battery. Had it tested, battery had dead cells. Alternator was fine. Got a new battery last week. All is good.

And after it has gone dead a few times, it really is junk. Never seem to hold a good charge after that.

I work for a major leasing company that one of the things we do(I) is manages the mechanical repairs of 385,000 vehicles. Many of them are 08 taurus' Soooo many coming into shops with bad batteries. And sooo many GM's still running from 05+ with OE batteries just fine.
Bottom line, Motorcrap batteries are just that, crap!

Glad you got it figured out, but everyone always suspects alt or batt being bad but most people forget about the starter solenoid that is mounted to the starter and works as one, Just an FYI for the future...

Although it seemed to be fixed with most of these cars in '07, leaving the Shaker system on when you turn off the ignition is one possible culprit. But there are many other factors that could cause a chronic issue like that. You may want to have the battery and alternator tested (most auto parts stores will do it for free). Keep us posted.
Great advice Nuke and OP glad the issue was resolved with a battery as opposed to a new alternator
