Default Gas Pedal Issues - Intake

Hello all,

I just installed a JLT CAI and Bama 91 race tune on my 2005 GT 5 speed...otherwise stock. FOr one...love how it made the car a little quicker and sound A LOT better. It did amplify my only complaint on the mustang that i have had ever since i bought it about 6 months ago.

When i press down even 1/8 of an inch on the gas in neutral the car revs up and will eventually hit redline or pretty close. It makes it so i cant drive smoothly...even feathering into the gas in first it jolty. Almost impossible to work your way around a parking lot or in traffic. This was even like this before the tune/intake, but now its worse.

When you guys touch the gas in neutral and hold it there does it eventually rev up towards redline? How do i stop this?

Sounds like a problem with the car, not a problem with the tune. You need to get that looked at.

No, it's not the car. The race tune has very sensitive throttle settings on the drive by wire system used in the car. Original poster, use the street or performance tune for your preferred octane if you have it available on your tuner. This will fix your problem. I did not like the race version of their tune so I opted to use the torque tune (street I'm assuming it's called now). So much better throttle performance on the street.

Maybe re-calibration of the gas pedal is needed.
Turn key to run but dont start vehicle.
Wait for the idiot lights to go out (those that will).
Slowly depress the gas pedal to the floor and hold
it there for a second, then slowly release it until
its fully undepressed. Do this two more times and
turn the key off. Start the stang and follow the
adaptive relearning procedure in the Owners Manual
under 'Battery Replacement".
Its worth a shot...

use the 91 performance tune instead, its nearly the same as the race tune but the throttle isnt as touchy

I'd start with the pedal recalibration that 157db posted first, then try swapping tunes if the recal doesn't work.

For all you guys, when you hold the gas down in neutral say 1/2" does it eventually rev up to redline? Or hover around 2-3k rpms...

If the recalibration doesnt work for you.. you should have it checked out. Still have any type of warranty on the car?
