Red face Silly 08 GT Question

I've read the manual cover to cover and could not find any info on this.

I have an 08 Gt with the Shaker 500 stereo, and I'm looking for information oh syncing it to my phone (Blackberry Tour). There is a phone icon button on the stereo head, but when I hit it, nothing happens.

Do I need to connect my phone via the aux input, or is there a way via bluetooth?

Thanks for answering my silly question!

+1 mute.

FWIW I just picked up a Motorola bluetooth unit that clips on my visor for $35 from newegg. It automatically downloaded my phone book and works really well. I can also move it from vehicle to vehicle. It also puts itself in standby and turns on depending on how close I am to it with my cellphone.

Thanks for the answers guys. However, when I hit the phone button, "no phone connected" pops up on the radio display. What is this referring to? Also, this mutes nothing.

Did you buy your '08 used? Perhaps the previous owner installed a Shaker from a '10. I have a Shaker 500 out of an '08 waiting for an install into an '06 and I recently compared it to the one in the '06 (again). No phone icon/button.

Sorry man, gotta call that one. I had an 09 GT with SYNC before my 2010, also with SYNC.

NOW I'm wondering if it could have been an '09 Shaker installed into a late model '08. Since these Shakers have programming that's not easily user accesible, it's possible you have the feature but that it's not enabled or even possible.

Oh, the possibilities...

i not sure about this but i think you have to have a phone actually hooked up to the shaker for this feature to work. There is a kit you can bit to hardwire a phone mount to the shaker i think.

Maybe the dealer knows about this feature he sold you?
Ask him how to 'connect' the phone...
Then let us know for future reference.
You can bet if its not in the owners manual, its not a workable feature OEM.
I have the 05, 06, 07, 08 and 09 manuals and they amount of 'updates'
between them is amazing. What they add feature wise, goes into the manual.
