Weird vibration sound from underneath instrument cluster
Hey all,
I have a 2010 Mustang GT auto, only about 16,000 miles on it.
There is a strange vibration sound (as if plastic is rattling against something), whenever the engine speed is around 1300 RPM. The sound seems to be coming from somewhere beneath the instrument cluster, although it could be farther down (near the pedals). It doesn't sound as if it's coming from the engine compartment; to me it sound like it's coming from the inside.
This is nothing TOO irritating, just mildly annoying. Has anyone else come across something like this? Any ideas or quick fixes? It's something that I'm sure the dealer would roll their eyes at, but I'd like this sound to go away!!
Thanks

Mine has a nasty rattle from behind the radio. The best thing to do is just start looking for any loose wiring or trim that could be making the noise. I'm about to remove the radio just to look for the damned thing, it's driving me nuts! I'm going to zip tie everything I find back there.

DO you have any mods like exhaust? I had some really bad rattles coming from my car in the same center area. I took everything apart and replaced all the ford factory tape with dynomat that i cut to the same size as the factory tape. Now i have no rattles. I did everything from the center console to the dash.

Thanks for the help.
I have no mods. I'm pretty sure it's coming from somewhere behind or underneath the instrument cluster. I've tried (and it's clumsy, let me tell you) to see what exactly is rattling, and I can't figure it out. It really sounds like plastic rattling against something; the weird thing is that it's only when the engine is running around 1300-1400 RPM.
The only thing I can think of is that it's something buried deep within the inside of the dashboard area...and if it is, I don't know how hard it is to get to.
It really does not sound like it's coming from behind the center console, but moreso the instrument cluster/steering wheel area.
Thanks
