Question Check Engine Light and Code.. Need Help.

Started my car up today and drove out of the driveway.
Noticed something seemed like it was not running right.
Saw the check engine light on.

I went around the block and back to my driveway and parked the car.
Got the SCT and read the code P0300.. random missfire code.

I cleared the code and now everything seems to be running ok.

But I am not sure what to do.
I have no idea what the problem could be.
I also have no idea if I should ignore that and see if it comes back.... or
if I need to get the car in the shop right away.

I had the sparkplugs changed about a year ago to the Champion one piece. I have had a code ONE time before that and it was not a random missfire code.. it was a specific.

It was a P0308 but after it did it once and the code was erased....it did not do it again.
#8 Cyliner Missfire (Pending)

As I said before it did not come back. And again the code this time was a random missfire P0300
Advice?

I have heard of all of these:
spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). the coils (a.k.a. coil packs) a bad catalytic converter...
and alternator.

Should I get the thing in the shop now or wait, then see if
the code comes back?

Hrm.

Well should I take her in now?

Or is o.k. to just wait and see if I get the code thrown again?

Like I said I had that #8 misfire code about 3 mo. ago ONE TIME.
Now this code..random missfire... and again after I cleared the code and started her up 2 more times
I did not get it thrown back at me.

If it was my car I'd change the plugs to ht1's. But that's me. How much is a shop going to charge you for diagnosis and repair? There may not even be a problem. Your call.

Exactly. I dont wanna take it in for diagnosis etc. if it was just a
fluke bad start and there is no real problem. (Even though it seemed to kinda sputter on me
when I was halfway down the block before turning back home)
When I cleared the code and started her up 2 more times it seemed to run fine.

That is why I am thinking to wait and see if the code gets thrown at me
again ya know? I just wanna make sure it's safe to do that.

I would not drive the car until I had the alternator checked and the plugs pulled. It did not throw a code for no reason

Could also be due to the cams. The code will come on occasionally with Hot Rod cams if a few items within the tune aren't adjusted.

Let me know if you're willing to try - I'll shoot over a free mail order tune, see if the code comes back.

Well dammnit the code came back today.

Looks like I will have to take it in to the dealership.
I don't want to but I also can't do guesswork on my own.
I have a broken back and working on the car is not an option.

I may take Chris up on his tune though to see if that helps.
If it does not then to the dealership it will go.
Son of a bitch I don't need this right now.
