Default White Smoke on Hard acceleration.

I have a 2010 GT (4.6L)

On the way back from lunch some guys from work were egging me on a bit and I gave them a little show and accelerated hard from a stop light. I did stomp it or floor it but gave the guy riding with me a good scare... anyway, they told me later that when I launched from the light white smoke came out of the tail pipes.

Is this a sign of a problem?

It's probably nothing. How bad was the smoke?

Was it a cold day? Cause that's what cars do on cold days bro. When the car hasn't warmed up. They might have been mistaking the tires smoke for exhaust though

Normal if its cold, just like seeing your breath. Probably mistook it for tire smoke though.

As long as it wasn't blueish and had a strong/bad exhaust smell. That's a tell tale sign something is wrong.

I wouldn't sweat it. Keep an eye on it but it could have just been steam from your exhaust (due to condensation in the exhaust system if the car had recently been started) or a little blow-by.

It's probably nothing. Maybe just because it was cold as others said. Try it again. When it's up to operating temperature, have someone else rev the engine while you check it out from behind.

If it truly is white smoke, that indicates coolant in the combustion chamber. Blue'ish/white smoke would mean oil in the combustion chamber.

It's water vapor most likely from condensed moisture in the exhaust system, especially if you did this after only a couple minutes of "warming up" on a very cold day.

thanks for the reply guys.

you guys are right. When its cold out I can usually see steam rising up from behind the car (which I think is awesome) so that is probaly all it was.

I just got over the flu last week and was still not 100% that day and it didn't processes.
