2011 GT-Base model w/3.55-good enough performance?
Am I really missing out on anything other than cosmetics (bigger wheels, leather..etc) by getting the base model with only 3.55 gears as the only option?
I know the Brembos stop better and suspension is tweaked some with that option.....but the 2011 now has the 2010 track pak as the standard suspension so base model should handle well.
My local dealer has a black base GT manual with 3.55 for $28,890.00 after rebate. Under 30K is attractive to me.
I really don't like leather....and although I like the look of the Brembo wheel package...the 18" are fine too.
And if I'm not tracking it and using really as just a daily driver to enjoy...am I missing out on much from a performance perspective?

I don't think you'll be missing out much at all. Sounds like a pretty nice car. And if there are things that you really wanted (different wheels, tires, interior goodies like aluminum shift *****, etc), you could add them for a reasonable price if you wanted to. The main reason most of us get the GT is for the 5.0 anyway...so you're set!
I must say though...29k for a 2011 base GT sounds a little high to me when there are 2012s on the lot. I ordered my 2011 in Nov and mine was under 32k, and I have a premium with gears, 19" nickel wheels, and comfort package. I think MSRP for it was 36k and some change.
I would try to get them to lower the price if you can. But at the end of the day, if you like the car and can't get it for less...then go for it. Really...a car like this in the 20k price range isn't bad. If you're happy with the options and price, then you're golden!
Good luck with your new 5.0!

I'll keep the trade separate from the deal and bring it up at the end only.
It ought to be reasonably easy to get a Premium GT for that (mine with comfort/security was less). Also, go to ford.com and sign up to get a brochure and tell them you're buying in the next 0-30 days. I did, and got an additional $750 rebate that showed up via e-mail in 2-3 business days.
I used AOL autos pricing service (there are plenty of similar services) to get in touch with the dealer I purchased from (and several others). The majority of the transaction was handled over e-mail, including pricing all based on a fixed amount below invoice, so I basically didn't have to negotiate, and they were very fair on my trade, which actually surprised me. Probably could have squeezed another dealer for a little more savings, but wouldn't have been worth the time/effort given the run-around I got from several others in face-to-face negotiations.
