Seat back latch cable broken

Seat back latch cable broken
2006 Mustang GT
My passenger seat back upper latch mechanizum broke( not the ****) ..the dealer is talking taking the seat apart but seams to me you could remove the assembly from the seat top and pull a cord up with the old cable to pull the new cable back down...anyone ever fixed a mechanical issue with the seat back latch the bottom handle works fine...the leaver moves not does nothing so I assume the cable has broken at one end or the other ....
