Default How much Hp Gain From my Mod's

Howdy, I am adding a Brenspeed Tuner/Intake combo onto my 2006 Gt-5speed. It is a BBk intake with a 91 octane tune, and I am adding Pype Bomb exhaust. What will I see in Hp and Tourque gains??

Wow, only 20 hp. I heard that just a plain K&N cold air intake would post almost 15 Hp, so a intake and tuner on high octane will generate only 20hp??

I was under the impression that it was 20-25rwhp, which is fantastic for that particular mod. You have to figure in a drivetrain loss so it's more like a 25-30hp gain at the crank. Some have seen even more than that. The tune is about more than just power, the throttle response and driveabilty of the car is vastly superior to stock. Also, please don't believe all of the marketing hype surrounding most aftermarket products. I'm sure you are aware that people rarely see gains that are advertised by the manufacturers. Ask around and 99% of forum members will tell you that a "no tune required" CAI is a waste of money by itself. 15hp on a K&N alone is a reach. Drive a stock mustang, then drive a CAI/tuned one right after that and the difference will be obvious.

Stand-alone CAIs aren't worth squat IMO. You might pick up a few hp but it's not worth the effort just changing the airbox out. A tune is where most of the power/improvement comes from. And it's not just about ##'s, a tune can really liven up a car i.e. throttle response, shift points and overall drive-ability

Don't always believe the manufacturer's claims

BBK (and other manufacturers) advertise unrealistic gains. On the S197 you might see 3-5 RWHP with a stand-alone CAI. A CAI & GOOD custom tune should net you 20-25 RWHP. The stock exhaust on the S197's flow very well so you'll gain nothing from exhaust work beyond the H-pipe.

I especially think it annoying when there is a write up about a certain part in a mustang magazine. And they announce the great gains. But what the magazine does not fill u in on is the longtubes they had attached to the car so that certain part could get those gains. I have emailed a shop on a few different occassions to see what they actually used in the write up. Always something missing

A cai and brenspeed tune took my stock stang from 13.9 to 13.40. It was a big difference. Car would chirp second and third gears!

Thanks for the feedback guy's, I look forward to getting these things installed, and taking my car to a test and tune to see the improvement.
