Just drove over 500 miles averaging 70-75 mph. My average MPG was 24 on hilly terrain.

Check this out:

2008 Mustang GT w/ Bama Performance 93 tune. I have 3.31 gears and with mostly highway driving my readout hit 27.3MPG the other day!

I did the hand calculation over 1 week of driving like a gramma back & forth to work. No extra trips, definitely no fun, just back & forth. Worst week ever. Shifting at 2k. Driving the speedlimit. It was painful driving this way. I got 24mpg. It will be the last time I ever get 24mpg.
Drive it like you stole it! FTW!!

My 2006 automatic's overall average at 63,000 miles is a few ticks over 18 mpg. I once did a trip from LA to San Francisco, all freeway driving, and got 23.2 mpg. On my daily commute, which is mostly city driving, I get 17.5 mpg. When my daughter drives the car, she gets 16 mpg. When I took the car to Thunderhill Raceway I could only get 12 laps to the tank. That's less than 3 miles per gallon. The old Can-Am cars got better race mileage than that! Ford must have copied Porsche and decided to make a gasoline cooled motor for track use...

Useless number to base a cars average fuel mileage if you're not resetting the on-board ONLY from pump-to-pump.

Cars computer says I usually average 23-24 as my town uses mostly highways (typically 45-60mph) to get around. Although and I couldn't and still kind of don't believe it, on a 130 mile round trip I averaged 27.5mpg by the time I pulled into the driveway using cruise at 60mph the whole way... granted I was driving like a 75 year old woman when taking off from the few lights I had to stop at out of curiosity to see how high I could get the mpg.. still think it was a "bit" off lol

If that was your on-baord and not a hand calc, then it probably is a bit high, usually by 1-2 MPG. But at a steady cruise of 60 MPH, especially with 3.31's and maybe even 3.55's, 27 MPG per the onboard is a good possibility. At a steady cruise at low engine RPMs such as 1500-1800 RPM, I've hand calculated in the mid to upper 27 MPG range on about 3-5 occasions. And, yes, that's pump-to-pump.

So far pretty interesting results from people.

From what I recall my best at stock was around 22, average was about 19-20. Lost around 3 and a half MPG between race tune and 4.10 gears. Obviously the bigger chunk of that being the gearing change.
