Talking Headers

So i just got my set of Kooks Headers & Catted X-pipe for my 08 GT. I had them Jet Coated & they look awesome!! Cost a little more to coat them but i think the benefits will outweigh the costs by far,i hope!! The question i have for anyone that has installed these on their Stang is should i do it myself or have someone do it for me? i have all the time in the world to do it but ive heard horror stories on the install of these. I have found a person willing to install them on my car for 350.00. i think this is a really fair price for the install of these headers. All im worried about is getting them scratched up during the install. He says hes installed a ton of them but not sure if they were coated or not? Any one have any suggestions on whether i should be worried or if i should just do it myself? Also,is 350.00 a fair price for install for a set of Kooks & Catted X-pipe? Thanks for any input!!!

Yes its a very fair price. Has you guy installed them on a s197 before? I got a buddy to help me and we did it over a weekend. Its a lot of work, just nuts and bolts but when you do it yourself there is that satisfaction factor. I say, get a pair of gloves and a 13 mm flex head racheting tool and do it yourself. You'll earn the respect from your fellow gearheads when you do it yourself.

Yes it is a big job, not easy. If you had a look on the install sheet that came with the headers, you can see it. I have black ceramic coated also and had them installed by my dealer and it took 6.5 hours. They fit very well and not a scratch.

I found a thread on here, some say not worth the gain. If you have to change your clutch or drop tranny, you basically have to go through it all again. $350 seems to be cheap, again, from what I’ve read. I still have not made a decision yet myself. Like above, I would install for myself just for the experience.

I've had Kooks Long Tube Ceramic Coated Headers with High Flow Catted H Pipe on for almost 4 years now. And, they look as good as the day they were first put on. $350.00 is a good price and personally I would let them do it...!! If you can, Just stand and watch them (about 6 hours) while it's on the hoist and you will see why. Not difficult, but time consuming and some spots can be a PITA doing it yourself in the garage /driveway.
And FYI.. I've dropped my tranny, changed clutches and it dosesn't affect headers ....
Have fun....!!!

I just made a post about getting these myself. It is a big job, took me 9 hours to install but it was worth every minute. They sound incredible.
