Default FAVORITE CAMSHAFTS!!!

Just trying to get some opinions on everyone's personal favorite when it comes to cams for a lightly modified (few bolt-on's) N/A mustang. Maybe pros and cons for different ones/types. Let the discussion begin!

I personally have the ford racing cams just because i drive mine every day so i went with mild. If your looking for an extreme look into some comp cams. Have heard a few of them that sound amazing.

Detroit Rockers here. The do sound very cool and did give some power increase but for the money involved........ I would save it for FI!

Hot Rods here. I love them, however, you'll have to change the way you drive. I ride the clutch a little more to take off and stay in 3rd at low speeds (~30 mph/lower).

With the more higher lift and/or longer duration cams, I know csm phaser limiters are required.

Now i know that cars with cam phasers can hit the valve to the piston in too fast of an engine rpm deceleration, even with stock cams and stock cam phasing tuning tables.
What I am curious is if you go with an aftermarket cam and/or aftermarket cam phasing tune, will cam phaser limiters prevent and possibility of piston-valve contact?

LOL, I love cam threads. I had Detroit Rockers in my 05.

For the sound, nothing can beat them.

If you want power, save that $1100 to put it towards FI.

Care about drag racing? Then add another $400-500 to swap in some 4.10s because you'll lose torque on the low end (a noticeable about). Also, cams plus gears = 3-4mpg less than you get right now.

Good point. Even with 4.10 gears after the cam install my car would NOT spin the tires from a stop, it had lost that much torque. The top end was faster as my ET improved a tenth. I hated that sluggish feeling out of the hole.

Yeah, I'm surprised more people don't mention it. I've even had people say their NSR cams improved low end torque, which is complete BS. Its not a coincidence that Brenspeed says a gear swap is recommended due to low end torque loss. They weren't lying.
