I recently dealt with a similar issue like what you describe. Last season I changed to a 4.10 rear end gear. I also did a new clutch and changed trans fluid at the same time. I started to notice shifting from 1st to 2nd was difficult. No grinding, just locked out until RPMs dropped below 3,000. Under that and it shifted smoothly. Forget shifting at 5,000.

After doing my due diligence and reading EVERY post about shifting issues with Tremec 5 speeds, I narrowed it down to the Mobil 1 fluid I used, or maybe the fill level was too high. After draining and checking the level and then draining and changing to Motorcraft fluid, the problem persisted. I then feared the bad synchro issue. I also had two more things to try before cracking open the trans case. I ordered a CHE K Member Brace with Torque limiters and Prothane Motor Mounts.

Long story short(er) I did the Motor Mounts first and there was an INSTANT improvement. Just putting it in gear to back out of the garage was effortless. Before I would have to slip into 1st and then into R. 1st to 2nd was also greatly improved. I could now shift over 4,000 RPM. I decided to install the CHE Brace and limiters just for good measure since I already had it. I did not notice any further improvement in shifting. Perhaps a stiffer chassis, but that is still undetermined.

Oh, and the stock motor mounts looked perfect, not tore up or leaking fluid. Go figure.

Something to consider. Good luck!

Your synchros may not be bad at all. I have read on here people have had issues shifting in higher RPMs and after upgrading the clutch fluid line it was resolved. Or like mentioned above upgrade the motor mounts and/or add torque limiters.

WOW!!!! That's giving me confidence that its not my synchros... And I too have heard of motor mounts causing hard shifts at high rpms. Which motor mount did you buy?? I'm going to try that out lol

I installed them a few days ago. it made the shifts smoother, and now i can feel the motor when i turn it on and rev it =) but didn't fix the high rpm shift issues. I already ordered ford racing clutch line, see if that fixes it... sighh
