Default Steering rack pop

I just noticed a pop in my steering rack tonight going into my garage. It seems to happen only when you start on center. Once the initial turn and pop happen, it doesn't pop until you change the wheel direction. It almost feels like a ball joint is worn. Any suggestions as to what this might be?

Thanks!

Wow. I'm the ONLY person who has this problem. AMAZING.

Thanks for nothing.

Strut mounts are a well documented cause of front end popping noise when the steering wheel is turned.

Sure sounds like the strut mounts to me. I really don't think it's a problem with your rack or ball joints.

I'll be the third to say its gotta be the strut mounts. I replaced mine a last spring after 5 years of popping turns. Fixed it right up. Here's a link to the one's I purchased.

Thanks guys. I had the car lowered last summer, so I had adjustable strut mounts added with the new struts and springs. Safe to assume they have begun to un-torque themselves? I guess I'll just have the dealership check it out when I bring the car in for it's state inspection.
Thank you all!
