going built need suggestions
ok i have a 10K budget for this project i have an 08 mustang gt. stock for the most part 40K miles and a the trans is brand new with around 500 miles. was wanting to go turbo but not sure. wonderig what you guys think. oh and im in the army deployed right now so i would need a good shop to do the work for me since im not home. thank you
Nothing wrong with keeping your current car and building it up...I think it'd be awesome to have a 5.0L stroker kit put in my 08 GT with a kenne bell pushing 16 lbs of boost....just my thought, but that takes some supporting mods too. Gotta factor in clutch, trans, rear end, suspension, tires. Everything.
Exactly why I'm contemplating how far I want to take this car down the road. Just have to price it out. Unfortunately without doing the work yourself I'm not sure if $10k would be enough to have a fully built machine, though if you pick and choose I bet it could be done. If you stay low enough on the boost and power then you'll be fine with your trans and rear end for a while.
Are you looking for 500 at the wheels or the crank? Crank could be easily done without building the motor. So could 500 at the wheels but you're pushing it.

Buy a Whipple and you're done. If you want to keep an eye on it, get a wideband a/f gauge. If you drive a manual, you're going to want to upgrade your clutch.
Whipple, wideband, clutch and install should keep you safely under budget. Do the installs yourself and you're a couple thousand under budget.

450 rwhp on all weather tires that can handle wet roads well (not DRs) and most road surfaces, is about as much power as you can use. Agree with diabolical, you should be under budget. Research forced induction to see which type will best suit your driving style. Get one though that has room for growth, in case down the road your goals change.
