Default Brand new 2012 Mustang GT w/ 3.73's & Leather Seats for $29k

I just went to the dealership and looked at a grabber blue 2012 GT mustang.
They were asking $34,500 sticker price.
I talked them down to $29,300.

Does this seem like a fair price.
It's basically a base model with leather seats and the 3.73 rear end package.
Tires are narrow and wheels are standard looking.

Should I go for it?
I will be going back for a final meeting on wednesday!

I paid under 27k for mine. The upgraded rear end can be purchased after, and installed for around $500 total for everything.

I'd say that's a little high for a base GT. You could probably find a GT premium for the same price if you shop around.

I paid 31500 for my premium with brembo package and a couple of other options.

If its the car you really want, dont let a few hundred dollars stop you from getting it i say. A few hundred dollars is a pretty trivial amount when youre gonna be paying for it for 5 or 6 years.

for a premium that isn't bad at all, premium standard come with leather and shaker 500 with sync right? or is that with the interior upgrade package? that is less than I paid for my premium (but i got the interior upgrade, auto, and louvers/scoops) and I had x-plan pricing.

The only problem is those new 2013s look awesome, upgraded engine (powder-coated pistons/internals like the boss has) all sorts of neat little electronic features.. i'd hold out for a 2013 if you can. although you will pay more im sure, especially to get some of those electronics.

According to the Edmund's site, Ford is currently offering a $3000 manufacturer-to-consumer rebate on that car. However, this type of rebate is not the same as a manufacturer-to-dealer rebate, and does not affect the actual transaction price. The customer generally chooses to either apply the m-t-c rebate against the sales price as a down payment(lowering the amount to be financed), or accept a check for the rebate amount.

That means the dealer is still making an approx. $1100 profit based on the $32,300 sale price($29,300 + $3000) minus the $32,198 invoice(manual premium 2012 GT w/3.73's as the only option), and a 3% holdback of the total MSRP($34,500) that Ford dealers are allowed.

So it appears that you have room to negotiate a lower purchase price.

Premium includes several things over the base. leather, power drivers seat, leather steering wheel, sync, mycolor, etc. I'd get it. Is the $29k with rebates or no?
