Squeaking brakes (TSB)
Hey all
Somewhere around 14,000 miles my GT 05 started a squeaking noise (not metal on metal) when I applied my brakes with medium pressure. After trying several home solutions I finally had enough and took it to my Ford dealer last weekend. The shop foreman said it might be faulty rotors and had the mechanic change the rotors. The test drive after the rotor replacement caused the squeaking noise with and with out braking so back on the rack it went.
They then found a TSB on changing to brake pads to a different type and shape. Well that fixed it. No more squeaking brake problem.

RE: Squeaking brakes (TSB)
Do you have the TSB number on the squeaking brakes? My 2005 V6 squeaks soooo bad I can't drive with the windows down. It is embarassing rolling up to a stop light with the loud exhaust and even louder brake squeal.
Thanks!

RE: Squeaking brakes (TSB)
My build date is after the date in the tsb, and I'm getting the brake squeel....got roughly 13,000 miles. I thought it was just the rotors since they tend to rust over pretty badly quite often...thanks for the tsb info!

RE: Squeaking brakes (TSB)
Speaking to you as a licensed mechanic. It happens on my 05 roush also. The squeal you hear from your brakes is not caused by the rotor but from the back metal side of the brake pads against the caliper piston and cailper mount area where the back metal side of pad touches the caliper. This area usaullly developes rust. When you buy new pads there is usually a stick on paper to stick to back metal side of pad. this is to stop squeaks. There is also a squeal stooper which is applied to back side of pads and it makes like a rubber pad. A quick fix to the squeal is to use WD40 and give the back side of pads only "not" the the between pad and rotor but on the backside where the metal back side of pad meets the caliper. It don't take much just alittle squirt and it is fixed as easy as that. Most wheel you don't even have to take off to do this.
