Default 07 GT Auto Tranny Leak Help!!

Hey guys I have an 07 Automatic GT Convertible. The car only has 40000 miles on it, recently I noticed a little tranny fluid on the garage floor that Im totally bummed about. It is very small amount of fluid (a few drips) but a leak none the less. So ive been monitoring it ever since and looks like it only leaks when I drive it pretty hard EX: getting on it from a stop. It doesn't seem to leak under normal driving conditions at least from what I can tell. It just leaks when I get on it and the leak is in the front of the tranny on the drivers side. I did installed a bama tune a couple months and it leaks on the 87 street as well as the 93 race, but other than that the engine is stock. Have any of you guys experienced this problem with these cars? Any ideas what it could be? Do you think the tune has anything to do with it? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What you are seeing is probably overflow. The automatics are vented into the bell housing and you can see drips from there after driving hard. JDM makes an overflow catch can that collects the fluid and lets it drain back once it cools.

Yeah I had the same issue after installing the supercharger and racing at the track. I got the JDM catch can and it stopped all the fluid leaks. Its a simple install and a must for this trans otherwise you end up with too little fluid in your trans and ........eventually damage happens.

Not the best pictures, but should give you the idea.

Routing of OEM overflow line into torque converter area.

Line installed for a overflow tank (hose not yet cut to correct length):

I opted for the Canton Racing Products Transmission Overflow Can.

That's a great picture showing where that line is located for the people that don't understand how the overflow vents out.

Wow, thanks guys. I had no idea about this, I just placed an order for one of these on JDM. I want to get this bad boy mounted ASAP, I cant stand the thought of fluid leaking esp on a driveway or running low on fluid. Is this hard to install? Is it something you can do yourself or does require taking it to a transmission shop? Again thanks so much for your quick responses, I feel a little better about this now, hopefully it solves my problem.

I'm curious why your guy had overdrive or 1-2 shift piston out?

Not wanting to high-jack the thread, but I had the trans beefed up a little when the forged motor went in.

While it is easy to do, I am not sure it can be done without lowering the transmission, although I can't say for sure as I did mine when the trans was out for the motor install.

Nah is not difficult at all. Its just kinda hard to see anything. First of all the hose ie tube is the one on top the trans in the pictures above. JDM will tell you to pop out the plastic connector that the overflow tube is connected to from the trans. I could not get it out. So I took a very sharp razor knife and cut the hose away from the bell housing connection. I then used one of those plastic hose connector things and extended a length of 3/8 hose that was routed back up to the engine bay. I mounted my catch can on my CAI shield. Works perfectly. I did this with my car on jack stands.
