Living in chicagoland, I would like to buy a set of winter tires/wheels for my 06 GT vert. Since I ordered the 18" wheels, is there any reason to stick with 18" for winter? Is the suspension really 'tuned' for the 18", and if so any harm going with 17"?

 

at last, someone else who has the 18 stock rims on an 06. i bet there wouldnt be any harm in putting 17's on. it may affect the speedo and the odomoter, but itll prob be a neglible difference. now the real question, have you thought about putting wider tires on your stock 18s? i want to put wider ones on the rear, but i dont know if its possible. have you looked into it?

 

I can't see how putting on 17's will somehow harm your suspension. R U running the stock setup? If so, you have nothing to fear.

 

Thanks for the replies. I had not planned on putting wider 18" tires on, but I think I saw
oversize tire options on one of the tire sites ... tirerack or 1010tires?? Tirerack would
probably recommend some if you contact them.

 

I bougt a set of Blizzaks from ebay Brand new 265 35 R18's for $375 which included shipping. I live in Chicago too and bought them for this reason. These tires are supposed to be the best snow performance out there but they produce a considerable amount of noise.
