Default 22 inch wheels?

I am thinking of getting wheels. At first I was set on 20's staggared, but now I am considering 22's. Will I have any problems such as rubbing or any other problems with 22's? Has anyone gotten 22's for their Mustang?

I don't see how this would be possible. The Saleens come with 20's, with barely 2" of rubber mounted to them. And there is NOT much more room. Hell, I can barely get my hand in there for cleaning - so I would have to guess 22's would not work, unless you are planning on driving on rims only

the carbon 3d mustang has 22s.... very low profile tires though... like 3/4" of rubber.... i think with that small of a tire, it would be possible..... but if you want an oppinion, i think the 20s staggerd, like 20X10 in the back and 20X8 in front would look badazz....

you can do 22s but with an ultra low profile tire. you would also have to get the highest offset 22 you could possably find, bcause if not they will stick out of the wheel well and look like ***.

I was at a friends tire store and saw a 26" wheel sitting there. He said they put them on SUV'S.

for instance i rear wheel drive wheel has a low offset(usually 32mm and under) and front wheel drive wheels have high offsets(36mm and higher). even thought the new stangs are rwd they take fwd offset wheels. thats why when you see fr500 and bullit wheels that have been out for the 04 stangs and such they always seem to stick out of the wheel well of the new stang. any more almost all "sport compacts" rwd or not take a fwd offset. you can still stagger fit and use a high offset wheel though. i recommend at least 38mm of offset on the new stangs to keep the wheels inside the wheel well where they belong.

"Offest"(usually measured in mm's)- is how far from the centerline of the wheel the mounting surface is.......negative offset would pull the wheel in and positive offset would make the wheel stick out. The wider the wheel, the more negative offset you would need.

"Backspacing"(usually measured in inches)-is the distance from the inner lip (back side) of the rim to the mounting surface of the wheel.---the more backspacing you have, the further inward the wheel will set.

I have 20's on mine and I have to tell you that I have had to replace one rim already do to a bending one, and this isnt a daily driver, I wouldnt go 22's just for the fact that I would want a little more rubber on the wheel. 22's would look cool if you have a trailer queen not as a driver.
