Default Before & after

My new toy was filthy, and while I've never tried to wash or detail any engine on any car I've ever owned, this didn't come out badly all things considered. It looked like this when I bought it:

Here is the after:

And I'll bet it's faster now, too. My car always feels faster after a good wash and wax. Yeah, I know. It's just the placebo affect.

Faster - maybe. Less dirt = less weight, right? The price was definitely right. My six year old volunteered to help with the job, so after we had washed and detailed everything, I asked the natural question - "How much do you think your work is worth?" He said "A dollar or less." I told him to start high and negotiate down, you can't ask for more than your initial offer. We settled on his next price - $1.02. Gotta love almost free labor.

I wish us 3-valvers had nice looking valve covers like the new 5.0's have. Oh well...

Not as nice as the 5.0L look but:

All other conditions being equal, washing and waxing a car should reduce drag, not sure how fast you have to go to feel that effect.

Just get a roots-style blower and stop worrying about it

Simple green, and some elbow grease. I also covered the battery and air cleaner.
