i guess it it's so loud cause the damn thing is so quiet right now(exhaust). i ordered new set of 3.90's monday along with all the bearings and seals. i don't want to do this job anymore! 3 times is enough for me. i have too much other stuff sitting here ready to go on to mess around with cheap imported gears again.

I had Ford motorsport gears installed in mine, they are realatively quiet, I have never had a set put in that did'nt make a little noise somewhere. Welcome to hot Rodding. I have had mine checked and rechecked three times the just make a little noise.

how much do gears help your ET...like going from 3.23s to 3.73's

i went from 3.31 to 3.73's and e.t. dropped from 13.68 to 13.36. very combination is a little different. i don't have alot of mods yet so i didn't go too far with gearing at this time.

I just had my 3.73s put in, I also went from 3.31s. I hope I get 3 tenths too. You are an auto '05/? What all do you have done? I am shooting for 13.3s next friday when I go. I am running 13.55 now.

i have sct xcal2 by lidio at alternative auto in michigan, custom aluminum driveshaft(i have another being balanced now and will sell on e-bay saturday$499+shipping, and the gears but i'm changing them thursday because these are making alot of noise. i told the people i ordered from to get 3.90's this time. if they don't have them i'll stick with 3.73's. i still have the ford paper air filter in it. i have a rk sport ram air hood being painted, hooker long tubes in the garage and e-water pump waiting to get installed. i'm shooting for low 12's when i get done. k-member is on order and looking for drag wheels and tires now.

You ran 13.3 with a tune, driveshaft, and gears. That is really good. You can see my mods in my sig. My gears make more noise than I think they should.

the only things i have right now are custom aluminum d/shaft(check out the thread driveshaft pics for more info on that!), sct tune by lidio@alternative auto and gears 3.73 again. just got done putting in a set of precision gears and all new bearings. i noticed the carrier has about .003" runout. that may be where the noise is coming from. it still does it! i'm kind of pissed now. between my dad and i we have installed hundreds of gear sets in all different types of rears and this one is one of the worst we have worked with. i don't know what ford did to keep the factory gears from whining but i have to find out. i have heard of some stock gears making noise in the '05's. maybe ford put some kind of super slicky sh*t in there to quiet them down. oh well my wife will just bitch about it for a little while. i have a 500watt stereo to drown it out!

My stock 3:31s whined a little bit between 40 and 60. What was your 60ft. on the 13.3 pass?

60' was 1.995 that's with stock pzero nero's. i let the air pressure down to 22 psi. i am amazed at how good those tires are. i don't do a burnout this sometimes makes street tires perform worse. i just spin them a couple of times then pull straight to to line. no water. it seldom spins and when i get on the return road rocks and stuff stick to the tires and kick up in the inner fender just like slicks do. they must be a super soft compond. probably won't last long daily driving. i think with the rest of the mods i have sitting here now i should be able to run 12's. i ordered the anthony jones k-member and a special control arm that has been shortened 2" to move the front tires inboard. that will take about 30-40lbs. off the front. i want to run low 12's n/a with drag radials.
