Default Clutch help

So I was driving in the highway and I was switching to fifth gear, I heard a loud "pop" noise. After that, I couldn't accelerate even though I was in gear. The engine only revved. I turned my blinkers on and was able to coast to a highway exit. Also after the pop, I smelled a burning smell. After a while of sitting on the road and making calls, I couldn't even put it into gear to attempt to drive. But I could crank the car. That's it. 2008 GT with 135k miles. What could this be? Clutch going out or the whole tranny??

So your engine starts and runs fine but you don't have drive and can't engage any gears? Sounds like the clutch has blown apart.

I'd say shattered clutch disk. Don't attempt to drive, time to flatbed to shop or DIY fix.
