2006 to 2007 cooling system redesign?
So it looks like Ford redesigned the cooling system on the GT between 2006 and 2007, but I can't find much info about it. It sounds like they moved the thermostat from the cool side to the hot side. Does anyone have any info on this? Can up upgrade my 2005 to that design? Do I need to? I'm pulling the timing chain off, so now is the perfect time to do this if I need to. I've done some searching, but I can't find anything.
Thanks

Yes, you can update the cooling configuration on 05-06 mustangs to the newer 07+ cooling configuration. There was a thread on this forum about what parts are needed to do that. It's just an update in hose part numbers and thermostat housing number for the manifold.I can't find the thread though. I think you just need the revised lower hose from an 07+ and the 07+ thermostat housing.
Edit: It'll be something like this: https://www.americanmuscle.com/edelb...de-0506gt.html This includes other stuff you may not need like the upper hose and thermostat. I don't think the response received for a similar question on AM for this part is correct though as the kit has the exact lower hose and thermostat housing that are used on the 07+ models to put the thermostat in the intake manifold. As for the plastic replacing the metal, that IS the OEM way. My 08 uses a plastic 'T' in the same spot.
You can verify the look of the components by going to Rock Auto.

edit: aha! found it. Not on this forum though though: 3 Parts, crossover, upper and lower hoses.
