Brake light bar
I recently purchased a 2006 GT convertible. I have a question about the brake light bar. There is a metal strip that is on the bottom of the bar that covers the seam where the covering edges meet. This metal strip has about a one inch gap that gradually becomes narrower as it approaches the center of the bar. The gap begins at the radius on the left hand side. The strip does not show any signs of damage. It looks like the metal strip may have been pulled down causing the gap, I am curious if anyone else has had this happen and if so how was it repaired.
This is a reply to my original question. I backed the car out into sunlight, and in the good light, I was able to see the trim piece was vinyl and it had been repaired at some prior time and the glue had come loose. I stopped at an upholstery shop I know of and asked what is a good glue to use for this repair. I was told to use Weldwood contact cement. I was told to clean the area with lacquer thinner. When any chemicals are used, test a small spot first to insure materials are compatible.
