Honestly, maybe it lets the tank vent more easily or something, I'm not sure. All I know is that it's the way to get a full tank of gas in one squeeze of the lever.

To the original poster, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend buying a new Mustang now, with one caution. It's the only new car for sale that is hard to get a good deal on from the dealer (GT's more than the V6's). Shop around.
You didn't say what year your GT vert is, but I have found my 2005 ragtop to be a better car than the Mustangs I have owned previously. First off, it is a beautiful car! Also, it has the type of quality that I would expect from a Ford. If I wanted a high-end European car, I would have bought one (actually, those who know me would die if they saw me driving a foreign car). Sorry, I'm straying a bit. The point is that you will enjoy a new GT 5-spd more than you can imagine, and it should be a reliable car as well.
