Default Mustang GT?

Hello People

I am new to Mustangs and the forum, so I apologise if I am going over very old ground. I am about to order a GT, but hear there maybe a 500 BHP Shelby version coming out? If this is true, any idea of when, where to buy and the cost???

Assuming that's a no no, what's the preference with regards to the gearbox selected in the USA, stick or auto? For those of you who have opted for an auto transmission, did you als select a limited slip diff?

Sorry for all the questions, but I want to get my vehicle specced right!

Check the latest issue of "Road & Track Magazine". It has an article on the new Shelby Mustang Cobra - convertible version. I think the price is approximately $45,000 so the hardtop should be somewhat less expensive. Not a bad price considering it has close to 500hp and considering a new Z06 Vette with 500hp is about $65,000.

Does that figure add in the 10 to 25 thousand USD that the dealers will add on?

Mister Roper is correct. Dealers are going to add a hefty sum to the Shelby's. Also, most (if not all) of the initial production are pre-sold, so it will be very difficult to buy a Shelby Mustang.

Lord Hemming, not knowing your expectations, I think you would be pleased with a GT (I know I love my V6 ragtop). Transmission selection is a matter of personal preference and needs. GT's come with the posi rear (V6's do not), so that is not something you need to specify if you order a GT.

The options that I recommend are:
o Interior Upgrade Package (IUP) - gives you the alum dash & My Color instruments.
o Front Seat Side Impact Air Bags
o Leather (type) seats (my preference over having cloth)
o Convertible Roof! (my favorite option) [sm=drooldude.gif]

Welcome to the forum. Please do not hesitate to ask questions, and post some pictures when you get your Mustang.

IF you are able to get one (like hitting the lottery) it will cost you a minimum of $60k. Every dealership within 50 miles of me has at least 10 deposits for about $10-15k each. The closest dealership to me is the biggest volume dealer on long island & they are only going to get 3 MAYBE 4 cars in throughout the entire year. They will trickle in 1 by 1 every few months. So the smaller less busier dealerships will only get 1-3 of them throughout the year. Which means out of the 10-15 deposits that all the dealerships took for these cars, 7-12 of them will be getting their money back because the demand is too high for the car. 60-65k for that thing is far too over priced. Its listed at 40-45 but it will go WAY over that after the dealers mark them up. Good luck!

People are right - it will cost a lot.

Further, note that it isn't out right yet, and any specs you hear about it are just educated guesses: not all come true. Furthermore, it will take close to 550 HP for a Mustang to rival the ZO6 - that is a light car. I'd recommend buying something now and doing it yourself. You'll have a lot more fun, too, and will end up with something that costs less, is closer to just what you want, and probably faster (if you spend, in total, anything close to what you would on the Shelby version after the dealer markup).

Hi

Go with a loaded 2006 GT, it will run you about 28-29K and then spend $10K getting it professionally tuned and blown. Youll be running 400-450, it wil be cheaper than a Shellby and just as much fun.

Dont get me wrong id love a Shellby at the proposed $40K but everyones right there will be none available at that price.

I appreciate your thoughts everyone, a 2006 GT it is then, as I'm not into paying a dealer inflated prices for cars.

So now the spec, is the Shaker 1000 upgrade worth the cash? It says in the handout it comes with Audiophile speakers???

The spec I think I am going to order is:-

Torch Red
Black Leather
Manual Box
18" Premium Wheels - performance tires
Alarm
Wheel locks
Interior Upgrade pack
side airbags
Spoiler delete

Possible Shaker 1000?

Anyone recomend an iPod connector?

What is the price folks are paying for the cars? Dealers are telling me sticker price, has anyone got a discount????????

Thanks again!
