A more serious answer to the question: I don't like them either, so I am going to custom make my own out of lexan and paint them to match the car so they aren't as noticeable and hideous. Plus with the Saleen ground effects, they won't be near as exposed. My reasoning is not water and dirt, but these huge-*** tires throw up a lot of road crap (including small rocks) and I have already had to touch up a rock chip in my c-pillar area from the front tire throwing it up.

I plan to use 3M super velco that way they are removeable in case they don't look up to snuff for shows. If I end up liking the look, then I might complete the look with some Saleen logos [&:]

If you want to see some hideous mud-flaps on a "stang" - check out the photo album of my past '82 Capri on my website [:'(] I was only 16 at the time - what did I know [8D]

I guess yellow cars need them the most?
Maybe it's cause the yellow attracts so many bugs that having dirt on it also gets to be too much?

I actually like the idea of having integrated mudflaps, like Infiniti does with their G35 coupe, kind of like the ones on this Saleen from your website:
GreenSaleen1.jpg

Not sure exactly how they would look on a 05+ Stang though.
Here's a picture of the G35 Coupe:

Thats not a mud flap on that Green Saleen, or the Infinity. Thats just part of the ground effect package - same sort of thing that is on my '05. I am talking about extending that another 1-2 inches down AND out to protect from my tires throwing up stuff.

That's what I mean, someone with that G35 coupe doesn't need to add mud flaps, since the kit already acts like mud flaps. Well, post pics when you're done.

i think on the right car their good, heres a couple of pics from a 944 / LT1 i had before and after a day at willow springs, and yes the gas cap leaked and the rubber stuck to the side, easy clean with wd40.

and i installed with some fender welt material for a better fit.

but i dont think they'd look good on my stang,

Personally I think they would look just as good, if not better on your 'Stang then on the 944 [&:] And whats with the 24 sticker in the window - please tell me that was for a track day or something and not paying homage to JG on a Porsche [:'(]

the 24 was from a auto cross event with the porsche club at irwindale speedway. for keeping track of the cars. the lt1 power was awesome compared to most the 4 cyls

imho the flaps would be huge to be effective. too much tire.
