Default K&N Air Intake - any good?

I was checking out the K&N FIPK 57-25193 at the auto parts store the other day and was wondering if it is worth the money? (as compared to other air intake systems)
Is this the best brand to get for the Mustang GT?
I am looking at This one (cardomain.com store).

I use the K&N Air Charger. I initially bought it because it didn't require a programmer. By itself you could feel the increased power. But I bought a SCT programmer from Brenspeed and it became unleashed.

Well I was asking specifically about the K&N but the thread was helpful in a general kind of way - for instance, I did not know that I would need to have my car tuned after installation. Thanks for the info.!

^agreed^ an intake wont lean your engine enought to require a tune

I've got a K&N air charger on my 32v 4.6 with an 'off the shelf' tune for Lidio at Alternative Automotive. It definitely delivered a seat-o-the-pants improvement, and the engine spools up much faster than before. Still, I'm sure there is horsepower hiding in there that a custom dyno tune would unlock. My recommendation would be to at least get an off the shelf tune and hand held tuner along with the intake. Just my $0.02.

Thanks for the advice on that. It's coming up for tune-time anyhow so I should time the intake install along with the tune (I'm almost at the 60k mile service). It's good to hear a positive review.

yeah dude your in the wrong forum... but i lend you some advice. my ex had 2001 GT 5spd and the K&n intake didnt make a bit of difference to me in feel or performance. plus the install didnt seem like a good fit, ended up cusotmer making some pieces cause im a perfectionist. i now have a 2005 gt 5spd with a C&L and that thing makes an unbelievable difference, if i was you i would go checkout the mac cold air for that car or just spend the money on gears, exhaust or headers or something else...

Hmmm - thanks for letting me know about the K&N. There's a lot I would like to do with the car so considering an intake is just one of many "wish list" items

Should I delete the pics? (I'm new here so am unsure of the right thing to do) thanks
