You may know what your talking about - no doubts here from a fellow techy A/V guy, but it doesn't affect the car radio reception. At least not on these cars. I cut mine down to about 10 inches and it still works fine.

True - it may have an impact an overall distance, so your favorite stations may go out sooner if you are travelling out of range. But for everyday hometown travelling it seems to be fine.

You can go to www.uprproducts.com and they have a wide selection of antennas for all mustang years, if you don't want one at all, go to your local ford dealership and usually most ford vehicles have a little antenna delete on until the car is sold then they replace it with the original long antenna, just ask them for one or take it which ever floats your boat.

Thanks cmenders! I was putting up with a black painted chrome one I got off Fleabay. The paint held up for awhile, but now is flaking off. I just ordered the black 14 incher from Mustang Tuning. Gotta be better. And it's true the reception with the shorter ones aint as good as the stock one. But as sowaxeman mentioned, they work fine as long as you dont get too far from the station. I tried an 8 inch for awhile, but it almost didnt work at all. The 14 or 15 is the shortest I'de recommend. By the way, praztek, how did you get the ball off so you could stick it back on the cutdown antenna? I wanted to do that, but the damn thing is really on there!

you know whats funny if you look in the 06 mustang booklet you get at the dealer they photoshoped the antennas off all the cars lol guess the advertisement team thought they were ugly too

I've got an 8 inch antenna on my GT and reception is great all around the Dallas/FW area on both AM and FM stations.
For some reason though I feel really weird telling e'one that I went shorter than 10" [8D]
