Default Thinking about xenon replacements.

Anybody have these? Are they worth it? Are they true xenons, or some gimmicky "HID" wink-wink crapola?

Well the saleens are not true projector headlights, but do you mean like just putting in hyper-white bulbs or what?

Exactly. Saleen advertises Xenons, but there are several other brands like Sylvania, etc. that advertise "bright white" bulbs, which I believe are not the same. I'd be interested only in true xenons. I assume that the Saleens are just that.

So, who has them, and are you happy with them?

he saleens are true Xenon's and they have some type of mechanical device that allows you to have both low and high beams.

I have true HID's in my SVT focus and the headlight used a eyelid type louver to flip itself over half the bulb and then when yo want high beams it flips up reveakling the whole bulb tothe lens, and YES I LOVE them I am gonna miss them when i get the stang on 2/19 but I have already started looking for replacement lights

Yeah those other brands are just really bright white bulbs, and some are the purplish tint that the import crowd seems to love. There is another company that makes xenons, but they're a lot cheaper than the saleens, and you lose the high beam option for the cost difference. I'd save for the saleens.

I have the Saleen HID's and I'm really happy with them - they are *not* projectors, though.

The Saleen units are definitely the real deal, if a bit pricey. There are cheaper systems out there, but any HID system is going to cost you.

That sucks. Is it possible to do a retrofit into the headlight housings? I've got some audi projectors laying around...

I don't know - I've never tried to do anything like that. I think projectors would ruin the retro look anyway.
