Basic Mods for your 05-09 GT
Hey guys,
Just got my 2006 Mustang GT 5 speed, Not gonna lie I really don't have too much knowledge when it comes to cars. But I would love to start modding mine. Nothing too crazy, I'd just like some slight gains. I was thinking along the lines of a CAI, Tuner, Pulley, Exhaust and possibly headers eventually.. Where would you guys recommend I start? I'm thinking by starting with the CAI+Tune.. How user friendly is tuning? What is the process involved, and what are the possible problems I can have when tuning?? I'm looking into the DiabloSport Predator tuning, due to the great reviews I've read, plus the fact it runs on 87 Octane..
So I'm asking also, What are the complete benefits to a tune? I know I will see some HP gains, But how much of a gain am I looking at with a tune on 87 Octane plus a K&N CAI? And also what are the negatives to having a tune, If any.
Thanks a bunch for the help, I realize this is my first post so I don't want to look like a completely retarded new guy... But I am infact, A completely car-retarded new guy haha.. Thanks in advance.

Review of Steeda Tri-ax shifter
I my drove my car for about 5 weeks with the stock shifter before installing the Tri-ax.
The good: The tri-ax is much more positive, with shorter throws, and it very strong. You could bang gears as hard as you want with this shifter. You can adjust the height of the handle.
The bad: Excessive NVH. To be honest, it's nearly unbearable. The shifter shakes, the console shakes, the interior panels vibrate along with the floor. The shifter is very loud when shifting.
Conclusion: If your GT is a DD, skip the Tri-ax, it will drive you crazy eventually. I honestly don't know how this product made it to market with the polyurethane bushings, it's fit for a race car only. Apparently, steeda has made some modifications to the design to reduce NVH, which includes a bracket to use the stock bushings on the trans arm.
Steeda makes the hiliarious comment on their website that they didn't use rubber bushings to "cover up" NVH. THAT IS WHAT PEOPLE WANT! It's no fun to drive a car that vibrates like crazy and is super loud in the cabin with a stock exhaust system. I don't even what to drive my new car with this shifter.
Luckily, I didn't shell out money for this POS, I inherited it with the car. The previous owner took it out, complaining of, you guessed it, excessive NVH. My mistake was not believing.
Since I am cheap though, I'm going to experiment with dynamat and see if I can't get this NVH under control.

I first ordered the Ford Racing GTA`Smufflers, and Airaid Cai. It did not need a tune. I installe Moto Blue underdrive pullies.l then saved for a SCT3 From BAMACHIPS.COM race tune. The Che Uca and lcas helped with traction. No more wheel hop.
I installed the Classic Design Concepts Shaker Scoop for my 07 a few weeks back. The scoop works and looks kick a**. I can tell the fresh air from the hood gives it a boost, however the most noticeable difference is the "ram air" effect you get on the highway....cruizin about 75...and then punch it!
