nittos?
i currently have the stock 235 17's on the back and was thinking of just switching them out with some nitto drag radial 275-40-17. i dont really know much about tires so was wondering if this would be a good move or not?
The nittos work no better at the track than your street tires. A waste of money IMO. One of our cars blew out the MT ET's and all we had that instant at the shop were the nittos to put on and the car didn't hook any better at the track than it did on streets on the brand new nittos. Go with the MT ET's, BFG, or Hoosier.
The truth is the ET drag radials (although they work pretty good) are still the same rubber compound as regular street tires. MT claims they are actually a little softer than the ET Streets but I like the ET Streets cause they are the same compound as true slicks. Take my word for it though, put them on at the track. It only takes a few minutes (get yourself a little aluminum floor jack) and it's worth it cause they will not last long on regular streets. If you want them for street racing, I would go with the MT ET Drag Radials or BFG Drag radials. They will last a little longer on the road. But as far as the track goes - the ET Streets are the best performance you're going to get next to slicks.
Edit - I use the 26 1/2 X 11 - 17 here's a brand new set...
