Default 18x9 ?

Do you think having 18x9 tires all around will improve performance?

The wider the rubber the better the grip, so i've heard. I replaced my stock wheels with 18x9 with 255/45/18 on front and 18x10 on rear with 285/55/18 BFG g-Force KDW NT tires. This has definately improved the handling over stock. The ride is a little bit harder and you can feel the road more. The drawback with this set up is I can't rotate the tires. I chose this combo because it seems to be the most common and i like the way it looks. Plus, the new tires are almost exactly the same diameter as the stock tires. I've also heard the gforce tires are exellent in the rain, but we haven't had rain in Phoenix in almost 5 months since i put them on.

Some forum members have used 18x9 wheels with 255's all around. Some have said you can go as wide as 275's all around and as big as 295's on rear without trouble. But i can't confirm that.

Thanks for the info. The reason I ask is I'm getting the 06 Roush rims.

I just had the steeda ultralights istalled on all 4 corners yesterday. 18 X 9.5 with Nitto 555 275/40. No clearance issues at all.

You got a sideshot picture? I'm running 18x9s with 265/35s in front, 18x10s with 295/35s. I'm interested in seeing how the 55 series fill in the rear well for your car.

BTW, I LOVE how the 295's look from the back - very aggresive looking.

Also, i have the same BFGs and the rain performance leaves something to be desired. But I'm also running 4.10's.

I think they fill in fine. Although, others might prefer to see it lowered a bit. Here's a link to a previous post with some pics of mine (post #4). https://mustangforums.com/m_884576/tm.htm

I'd like to see yours too. I might go bigger with my next set of tires.

I'll try to snag another set of pictures tomorrow (won't get home till after 9 tonight and most likely will still be raining). These should give an idea.

18x9's can make ruts or grooves in city streets challenging but turning with speed is fun. Be careful when pulling up to curbs when parking, the wheel will grind the curb before the tire. Silk Steeda's do not appreciate that.....!

Have fun..

Looks real nice. Love the black wheels on silver. Kinda like the negative image of my Black GT with anthracite wheels.

Yeah, I already learned my lesson about the curb scrape after 4 days. Tight drive-thru in the dark. OUCH! Couldn't stand it and i ordered a new rim which incidently got damaged by the installer. I didn't notice it till 2 days later and i even looked it over B4 i took the car. Just my luck! That guy knew he did it too!
