18x9 Saleens on a 01GT?
hey guys, i have a 2001 Mustang GT and i have the regular stock 17x9 Alloy Rims and I want to upgrade to the 18x9 Chrome Rims that Saleen has and I wanted to lower it the problems that i have is that i use this car some and people told me my gas milage would decrease and my ride would be alot rougher and i wanted to lower it with Ebiach Sport line springs to. would my 01 gt have any rubbing and one thing that concerns me will it slow down my car any or be harder on the engine some people say get a tire size that is like ur stock what kind of tires should i be running on 4 18x9 saleen rims? please help i hope the rims wont stick out past the fenders will they? im looking for a nice and clean look thanks alot Phil

Your gas mileage would go down because you would have bigger wheels (chrome) and when you lower the car you will lose the ride and it will be even worse with the bigger wheels. So you would be substituting the ride comfort for looks. About the tires... How about some Nitto's or pirelli's....?? The only way you would get a better ride with the bigger wheels and lowering, would be to change the shocks, struts, cc plates etc, as well as the springs, but you would still be able to tell the difference from stock.

Not sure, go down to your local wheel and tire store and ask them. Then you can find the size your looking for cheaper somewhere else thats what I did. I have to admit Americas tire company has the best prices on wheels and tires, you can also talk them down in price. And they'll match any advertised price if you find it cheaper anywhere else.

you would be pushing it with 305's on 9 inch rims.... bfg 295/40/18's fit perfect on those, and they stick quite well.... if you want 305's you'd need a relatively high sidewall, but idk if they make em that big

Me and my buddy have the 295 bfgs on our saleens. We tried to put the nitto 305s on and they rubbed and didnt get nearly as good traction as the bfgs so we took them off.....Although the nittos last twice as long we both have upgraded 10 inch rears too

what size nittos would i need for these rims in the 18/10
saleen rec. 295 but nitto doesnt make a 295
would 305 work?

I'm not too sure about actually seeing a difference in gas mileage from those rims but you will definatly get a stiffer ride and better handeling compared to stock!!!
