Question How Low can I go on 18 inches wheels

I'm thinking of running 18x9 on front and 18x10 Cobra S Style wheels on my 2000 GT. Tires will be 275/35-18 upfront, and 285/35-18 in the back. I want to use a lowering spring kit.

Question - how low can I go on the lowering springs?
Question - I have a convertible, and noticed on American Muscle carry lowering spring kits specific to convertibles. Does the spring kit need to be convertible specific?

Please let me know. THanks for your help!

I went with the Eibach Pro kit. I have the same size all around 275/35/18s and have room to spare. I think the pro kit lowers it 1.5 inches.

Low enough to start affecting the handling in a negative way, I have to assume.

FYI: slamming the car as low as you can get it doesn't necessarily improve handling.

I run H&R coil overs on mine and you can drop them as low as you want to go. Mine is down fairly low right now. Here is a picture with 275/35/18s and 295/35/18 street tires I took a while back. It was about the same when I had lowering springs probably an inch lower but they springs ride like a jack hammer compared to the coil overs.

I don't think anybody noticed your putting them on a 2000 GT. I had 19'' saleen rims on my 03 GT with a eibach sportline spring package which had a 1.8" front and 2.0" back drop. I had no problems and the car sat nice. handled better too. I think you do need to specify if you have a conv. or coupe because the convertibles are heavier in the back due to the motor for the top. I could be wrong though..

Yes, thanks for your help. It would definitely help if I had more info on the convertible and 00 GT aspect of the mod. I will check out the convertible spring sets and will order ones specific to the vehicle (good point you made on the extra weight due to the soft top motor).

Best regards,
Henry
