Jonathan was killed in an car accident Saturday morning when being driven home by his girlfriend. Reports say she thought she saw an oncoming vehicle in her lane and lost control when she over-corrected. Jonathan was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from her SUV and died on scene.

I just wanted to give support to the family and friends of Jonathan in any way I can.

I was not a close friend, but his family lives right around the corner from me. Normally when I drive by I see Jonathan and his brother working on their dad's old Mach 1 or John's brother's LS1 Camaro. Two days prior to Jonathan's death I decided to stop and introduce myself since he, I, and his brother share the same hobby. They were extremely nice guys...We all exchanged numbers to go on a drive around this weekend. I stopped by their house Friday evening to give a quick "what's up". I never got a call to go cruise Saturday evening. As I'm coming home about 10pm from my ritual of studying I see his driveway full of cars and a few people outside. I was about to pull over and see what they were up to, but decided to just go on home. As I come in my little brother (about Johnathan's age) said some kid at his high school died in a car wreck and he lived right around the corner from us. I asked if it was the white house with the guys that are always working on their cars.....he acknowledged.

The feeling when you get when you hear news like that is indescribable. I cannot imagine the insurmountable pain that their family is going through. I just wanted to extend my condolences and prayers to Jonathan and his family. I wish there was more that I could do.

It's unfortunate this happened, but just remember guys that stuff like this CAN happen to you. If anything, at least put a seatbelt on before you go anywhere. It takes two seconds, and while you're at it make sure everyone else has one on too. I know a personal rule I follow is that I will not go anywhere until I see seatbelts on. Things like this simply shouldn't happen, and I would say that everyone should use this as a reminder that things like this happen to normal people every day. Seeing someone close to you pass is difficult enough, but dealing with the memory of watching someone eject through a windshield over something that could've been avoided is not easy to carry on your mind, to say the least.

I just want to say that because this has happened to someone I know of as well, and the person that was best friends with him was in the car and he can barely live with himself now. He's stuck with that, all over something that could've been avoided.

Wow this will humble your day really fast......i've had a really hectic day at work and also had what I considered serious issue on my mind all day. I've just kinda been all worked up in my own little world. Worrying about the economy and how the MLB playoffs will play out and whatever else normally runs through our American minds every day. I sat down to browse the forums quickly. And I cringe every time I see a new post in this section........because this is so godamn heart-wrenching.

This really makes you put things in perspective and also makes you that much more conscience of your general safety no matter where you are or what you're doing. Ever since a wreck I had with my brother driving putting a seatbelt on has been so second nature I havent once thought about it in the last year of driving. Its 100% automatic.

I am 20 years old and this just really kills me......this is just.....so sad and unfortunate......what else can a person say? I leave work in an hour and i'm going to be that much more safe while driving the stanger. And this will also make me be very thankful and will make seeing the bright side of things in my life much easier. Rest assured, I will be humble and happy tonight just to still have my heart pumping.....

Rest in Peace Jonathan.

Some of you have seen my thread about my wreck that I had last week when a guy pulled out in front of me on the highway. The next day I went down to the body shop to see my car. They took me down to a big warehouse type building and my car was sitting about 10 feet away from an explorer that didn't look much like an explorer anymore. When I asked the employee that escorted me to the warehouse what happened he said a 15 year old kid was killed. It was from this wreck.....

The irony of this was inconceivable. My heart sank into my stomach as I actually touched the window Jonathan was ejected through. Words can't describe the eerie/sympathetic feeling I got. I took a picture of it when I came back the following day to take pictures of my damage.

Yesterday I drove by there house like everyday in my neighborhood. I saw his brother outside and pulled over. I hadn't talked to him since before his brother passed. He said Jonathan was the youngest of his 7 brothers. When I told him how sorry I was to hear about his family's loss he was struggling to keep his tears back.

Truly...truly sorry to anyone that loses someone so dear to them.

Stay safe guys. Life is too valuable.
